Dr. Ramin
Sedaghati is a full professor and Concordia Research Chair (CURC-Tier I) in
Smart Materials and Adaptive Structures in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and
Aerospace Engineering at Concordia
University. He received the B.Eng. and M.A.Sc
degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Amirkabir
University of Technology , Tehran in 1988 and 1990 respectively and his Ph.D degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria , British Columbia in
2000. After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Sedaghati was awarded Natural Sciences
and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Post-Doctoral Fellowship
and worked in the Canadian Space
Agency, John H. Chapman Space Center in Saint-Hubert, Quebec. In August
2001, Dr. Sedaghati joined Concordia University as an assistant professor,
became associate professor in 2006 and promoted to the rank of full professor
in 2011. Dr. Sedaghati is currently, registered professional engineer (PEO),
Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada
(EIC), Fellow of the Canadian Society
of Mechanical Engineering (CSME), Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers
(ASME), Associate Fellow of the American
Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and serves as the
associate editor of the Journal of
Intelligent Material Systems and Structures (JIMSS). Dr. Sedaghati’s main
areas of expertise are: Smart materials and adaptive structures specially
Magneto-rheological (MR) fluid and elastomer based adaptive structures;
Magnetic and mechanical characterization of magnetoactive materials;
Magnetoactive soft robots and actuators; Vibration analysis and vibration
control using smart materials; Adaptive energy absorption systems; Structural
design optimization and Computational mechanics (finite element method). |
