Education:

B.Sc.(E.E.) (Cairo University), B.Sc.(Math) (Ain Shams University), M.Sc. and Ph.D. (University of Manitoba).

Before joining Concordia University, Dr. Sebak was a Professor at the University of Manitoba.  He also taught at Cairo University. He was also with the Canadian Marconi Company, working on the design of microstrip phased array antennas.  In 1992 and the year 2000, he received the University of Manitoba Merit Award for Outstanding Teaching and Research.  He also received the 1994 Award for Outstanding Contributions to Scholarship and Research in the Applied Sciences category from the Winnipeg Rh Institute, and the 1996 Faculty of Engineering Superior Academic Performance Award. He received, as Chapter Chair, the 1992 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Best Chapter Award.   Dr. Sebak maintained a close involvement with industry along his scientific research work.   He has published more than 300 refereed technical papers in the above research areas including more than 100 journal papers. He was inducted as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 2009.

Dr Sebak’s recent research activities cover two streams: Antenna Engineering, and Analytical and Computational Electromagnetics.  Applied and sponsored projects include ultra wideband antennas, microwave beamforming, dielectric resonator  antennas, electromagnetic bandgap  structures, high gain antennas, and modeling techniques for simulation of electromagnetic waves interaction with 3D biological tissues objects for assessment of potential health hazards and design purposes.
