    AC Intro

The idea behind autonomic computing (AC) is that contemporary software systems must manage themselves, as the human body does, or they risk being crushed under their own complexity. IBM Research introduced the term autonomic computing to draw an analogy between the software systems and the human body's autonomic nervous system.

AC refers to systems that are self-protecting, self-healing, self-optimizing and self-configuring.
