• 2010: Co-author, Best Vision Paper Award, with Profs. Mohand Saïd Allili and Djemel Ziou, and Dr. Sabri Boutemedjet, IEEE Canadian Conference on Computer and Robot Vision, (CRV 2010), “Unsupervised Feature Selection and Learning for Image Segmentation", June 2010.
• 2010: Early promotion to associate Professor.
• 2007: Best Ph.D. thesis Award in Engineering and Natural Sciences in Quebec (Association des doyens des études supérieures au Québec (ADESAQ) doctoral prize).
• 2007: Co-author, Best IAPR Student Paper Award, with Mohand Saïd Allili (PhD student) and Prof. Djemel Ziou, IEEE Fourth Canadian Conference on Computer and Robot Vision, (CRV 2007), “Finite Generalized Gaussian Mixture Modeling and Applications to Image and Video Foreground Segmentation”, May, 2007.
• 2007: Runner-up for the prestigious NSERC doctoral prize in Engineering and Computer Sciences (Top 4 in Canada).
• 2007: Best Ph.D. thesis Award in Engineering and Natural Sciences, Université de Sherbrooke.
• 2006: NSREC Postdoctoral Fellowship (declined).
• 2006: FQRNT Postdoctoral Fellowship (declined).
• 2006: Honour Board of the Dean of Graduate Studies, Sherbrooke University.
• 2006: The efficiency prize for the research activities, Sherbrooke University.
• 2004-2006: Recipient of the NSREC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) Scholarship at the doctorate-level.
• 2004-2006: FQRNT (Fonds Québecois de la Recherche sur la Nature et les Technologies) Scholarship at the doctorate-level which I have refused for incompatible concurrent scholarships.
• 2003-2005: Recipient of the ISM (Institut des Sciences Mathématiques, Québec) Excellence Scholarship at the doctorate-level.
• 2001-2002: Laureate of a Tunisian Government Scholarship for pursuing  Computer Science Master studies in Canada.
• 2000: Top ranking in the undergraduate program in computer science engineering, Department of computer science, Faculty of Science, university of Tunis II, Tunisia.
