Elias wrote that Problem 4.26 in the solutions must be wrong. First x’ = 923.7(mean); Sx = ( 1/(N-1) * S (x1 - x’)² )^0.5, where x1 is the value at n=1 and we go further (x2, x3etc). If you perform the calculations ( N=10): Sx = (1/9 * ( 0.49 + 68.69 + 246.49 + 68.69 + 22.09 + 59.29 + 10.89 + 53.29 +5.29 +0.49))^0.5 = (1/9 * 535.7)^0.5= 7.71 (Not 8.13N as shown on the solutions). By the 3 sigma method, Z_o= 2.03 and N( 0.5 – P ( 2.03))= 0.0212*10=0.212>0.1. We find new statistics  X’ = mean=923.7, Sx = 7.717, Sx’= Sx / (10)^0.5 = 2.438  (Not 2.57 as on the solutions).
