Understanding the importance of ice accretion on solid surfaces could help to prevent dangerous scenarios in aerospace industry and power lines .Ice accumulation on a wing of an aircraft is related to impact of super-cooled water droplet which will be immediately formed to solid state after the impact. This phenomenon could change the flow pattern on the wing of an aircraft. This study investigates the use of promising superhydrophobic coatings (with contact angles larger than 150°) having an extremely low surface energy which can be considered as a novel candidate for anti-icing purposes. Determination of ice accretion strongly depends on the dynamics of droplet impact and liquid film/rivulets formation.
