Welcome

Hello. My name is Todd Eavis and I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Concordia University in Montreal.

My current research focus is Sidera, a project that explores the design and development of parallel OLAP server technology. Sidera is closely associated with cgmDW, a joint effort between Carleton University (Ottawa), Concordia University (Montreal), Dalhousie University (Halifax), and Griffith University (Brisbane). The cgmDW group invesitgates the use of parallel algorithms and data structures within the context of today's massive data warehousing environments. In particular, we focus on the construction, maintenance, and indexing of the data cube, a relational construct used to compute summary views of multi-dimensional data sets.

Apart from my primary research, I occasionally find the time for a few "peripheral" projects. These include:

  • GraphPie: A RAD (Rapid Application Development) environment for graph algorithms research. The system is being written in Python and is heavily influenced by LEDA.
  • PADDY: A platform-neutral graphical debugging framework for use with MPI (and distributed systems in general). The framework is Java-based and builds upon existing open source facilities.

Both of these projects are in the proof-of-concept phase. At some point in the next year or so, at least some of this research will be presented in greater detail.

Please have a look around the site and send me an email if you have any questions. Cheers!
