This mini-course explains in a dynamic manner those dislocation mechanisms in simple cubic crystals, which are listed below. It has been designed as a teaching aid precisely to illustrate the dynamic behaviour of dislocations as distinct from the static view. The accompanying video animation is intended for presentation at a stage in the curriculum when crystal structure has already been covered. It is advisable that there has been an introduction to plastic deformation, slip mechanisms and the basic concepts of dislocation theory.
