The iPhotonics  Laboratories consist of two major laboratories:

1. Fiber and Wireless Communication Systems Lab.

2. Nano-Photonics Lab. (semiconductor and photonic devices)

Dr. (John) Xiupu Zhang (张秀甫) was born in China, and received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree , all  in Electrical   Engineering, from   Harbin Institute of Electrical Technology (now Harbin University of Science and Technology (哈尔滨理工大学)), China, in 1983,   Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications （北京邮电大学）, China , in 1988, and  Technical University of Denmark （丹麦技术大学）, Denmark, in 1996, respectively.   

· 1992-1996, PhD study at Technical University of Denmark, Denmark

· 1996-1998, Post-doctoral at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden

· 1998-2002, Senior engineer of IT industries in Canada and USA

· 2002– 2009, Associate professor at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada

·  2009—-, Full professor at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada
