| Essay:TransScan - emerging trends in the built environmenthttp://www.transscan.com/WESTERN Australia's TransScan is a quarterly publication produced in hardcopy and online, dedicated to emerging trends in mobility and the built environment. The contents is a monitor of world wide change in all aspects of mobility and the built environment and is based on analysis of information scanned by agency staff and the research organisation. The principle aim of the publication is to stimulate the informed discussion necessary for the three departments to operate more effectively in a period of rapid change. The subject matter will often challenge assumptions. At the same time it will seek to familiarise readers with an ever changing environment. It is not possible to predict tomorrow, but it is possible to make calculated assessments about the future. Fundamental to this approach is the recognition that the future is here now. When decisions are made on what is thought the future will bring, those decisions help shape that future. Information which appears in TransScan does not represent definitive research. The contents is the result of a scan made in the past few months. On an ongoing basis, such scans will expose ever more new and emerging themes. |
