Abstract:
The development of the personal computers during the last years, and the continuing progress in calculation speed, have made it possible to create powerful computer programs and improve their potential availability in research and in the building design process. It is imperative that the programs are easy to use and well documented. This paper presents an endeavour to provide a new generation of such PC programs for the moisture flow in porous building material. A particular new feature is the use of the fundamental flow potential ψ, for which the transport coefficient becomes +1. This flow potential eliminates the interpolation problem for highly varying transport coefficients. The problem to incorporate material data in the program has been solved by including a data bank, which supports the program with data for different building materials.
