Two Post-doc Positions on Web Services

Both positions has a initial term for 12 months, extension is possibleC$3K-4K plus benefits varies according to the experience.Expected starting date: September 2008.

Concordia University is an English speaking university located in downtown Montreal ? the second largest French speaking city in the world. You will enjoy the first class research environment in North America, as well as the rich cosmopolitan culture the city offers. The department has over 1000 undergraduate students and over 600 graduate students.

Position 1: Web Service Process Adaptation
The successful applicant will study fundamental research questions in making Web service processes adaptive to environmental changes and failures. The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • a Ph.D. in computer science or software engineering
  • a strong background in formal techniques/AI, demonstrating mathematical maturity (some interesting techniques for research are in fault diagnosis and recover, model checking, AI planning, software maintenance)
  • a good knowledge of Web services, fluency in Java
  • a good knowledge of modeling techniques and/or metamodeling
  • an excellent command of written English
  • a record of publications

Position 2: Service Oriented Architecture design and methodology
The successful applicant will work on a Canarie funded project to develop a platform based on service oriented architecture to enable online experiments with experiment physics devices. The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • a Ph.D. in computer science or software engineering
  • a strong background in software system design and development
  • a good knowledge of Web services, fluency in Java
  • the ability to supervise a development team composed by junior programmers and master?s students
  • the ability to conduct research in service computing
  • a strong background in formal techniques/AI, demonstrating mathematical maturity (some interesting techniques for research are in fault diagnosis and recover, model checking, AI planning, software maintenance) is a plus
  • a good knowledge of modeling techniques and/or metamodeling is a plus
  • an excellent command of written English
  • a record of publications
