Abstract: |
Advanced insulation technologies are being developed in order to meet increasing stringent minimum efficiency stands for appliances and building envelopes. Numerous advanced insulation concepts have been developed to the stage that full-scale prototypes and, in some cases, commericaal products are available. These concepts include power, aerogel, foam, glass fiber filled evacuated panels, and low conductivity gas based sssystems, some of which are operated at a vacuum whereas others are operated at atmospheric pressure. These emerging insulation technologies offer the potential for extremely high thermal resistance values. |
