About us

Concordia's Distributed Evolutionary Computation (DEC) Lab grew out of the work and research of members of Concordia University's Computer Engineering and Computer Science faculty as well as a number of graduate students and collaborators in a range of other academic disciplines. The DEC Laboratory will be situated in the new Engineering and Computer Science building as of 2005.

Though still in its beginnings, the DEC Laboratory is evolving rapidly as the research areas and teams expand. Much of the Laboratory's work revolves around Formal Artificial Life, pattern recognition and games for engineering education.

Concordia's DEC Laboratory continues to focus on the study, invention, and creative use of a variety of technologies to enhance the ways that people think, express, communicate ideas, and explore new scientific frontiers. For information on how to join the DEC Lab, please see the Students section.
