BIOGRAPHY

Ted Obuchowicz began his university education by completing two years of Metallurgical Engineering at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.  After becoming slightly "disenchanted and bored" with the field, he transferred to Concordia University to study Computer Engineering.

He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Engineering (with Distinction) from Concordia University in 1990.  Following this, he pursued graduate studies and received a Masters of Engineering in Electrical Engineering in 1995 also from Concordia University. During the course of his graduate studies, he was awarded an NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council) scholarship.

He became the Full-Time Lab Coordinator (Computer Engineering) for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering  in 1995.  He held this position for a little over two years.  When the position of VLSI/CAD Specialist became available in September, 1997, he applied and was offered the position.

In addition to his duties as VLSI/CAD Specialist, Ted also teaches courses on a part-time basis for the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science.  Courses taught within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering include COEN 312, COEN 414, COEN 416, COEN 240, and COEN 290. Course taught in the Department of  Computer Science include COMP 228, and COMP 520.

In recognition of his commitment to his students and willingness to assist them in attaining their academic goals, Professor Obuchowicz has been honoured as a Recipient of the 2000-2001 Teaching Excellence Award by the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science.

Mr. Obuchowicz has been a member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.) since 1991. He is also a member of the IEEE Computer Society.
