Bid to host TPHOLs 2008
by Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

The Concordia University would like to host the 21st International Conference on Theorem Proving in Higher Order Logics (TPHOLs 2008) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Timing and Program

We propose to follow the timing of previous conferences and would hold the conference August 18-21 (alt. August 25-28). We expect the conference to consist of fully refereed research paper presentations, talks by invited speakers and poster sessions for work-in-progress. We aim to provide plenty of time between the formal sessions to mingle and converse with other attendees, since we believe this to be a central aspect of the conference.

As in previous years, we will seek to publish the main proceedings as a volume of Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science, and also to continue the tradition of offering a venue for the presentation of work-in-progress. The latter will be published as a separate volume. Both volumes will be prepared in time to be available at the conference.

Organizing Committee

Conference chair

  • Sofiene Tahar, Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Program co-chairs

  • Otmane Ait Mohamed, Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada
  • Cesar Munoz, National Institute of Aerospace, Hampton, Virginia, USA

Other organizers mainly from the Montreal area research community will be confirmed later.

As is customary, we will form the Program Committee with the aim of maintaining and strengthening a broad representation from the user communities of the various higher order logic theorem provers and from the major application areas.

Travel and Accomodation

Concordia University is located in the heart of downtown Montreal. We plan to have the presentations done in our new Engineering building. A very wide range of accommodation facilities and international restaurants are available around the Concordia campus.

Montreal is a large, cosmopolitan, affordable, cultural, bilingual (French/English) city. Easily accessible from several airlines around the world. Montreal is also home of four major Canadian universities: McGill, Concordia, University of Montreal and UQAM. End of August is a late summer period, which will ease arrangements for travel and accommodation.

The average temperature for the last week of August is 20-25°C.

We have every expectation that TPHOLs 2008 at Montreal will be well-attended, intellectually stimulating, and enjoyable.
