Gerard J. Gouw, Ph.D., Eng.


Biography

Dr. Gouw obtained his baccalaureate (B.T.W.) and engineering (Ir.) degrees in Mechanical Engineering in 1975 and 1977 respectively from Twente University of Technology in Enschede, The Netherlands. He obtained his master's (M.Sc.(Eng.)) and doctorate (Ph.D.) degrees in Mechanical Engineering in 1979 and 1984 respectively from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. He first worked for one year as a Rehabilitation Engineer at the School of Rehabilitation Therapy, Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario and then for one and a half year as an Orthopaedic Bio-Engineer in the Division of Orthopaedics, Department of Surgery, Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba. He joined Concordia University in 1986 and is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Aerospace Engineering. He is a Professional Engineer in The Netherlands and the Province of Quebec.
