    The National Building Code of Canada (NBC), the National Fire Code of Canada (NFC), the National Plumbing Code of Canada, the National Housing Code of Canada and the National Farm Building Code of Canada are prepared and maintained by the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC) and are published by the National Research Council (NRC). They are recommended model codes which may be adopted by an appropriate authority.

    In Canada, where it is called an objective-based building code; this is scheduled for publication in 2003.
