| Essay:computer code: ESP-rEnergy Systems Research Unit ESP (www.esru.strath.ac.uk/)"ESP-r is a dynamic thermal simulation environment for the analysis of energy and mass flows and environmental control systems within the built environment. ESP-r ("r" stands for Research and EU Reference) allows researchers and designers to assess the manner in which actual weather patterns, occupant interactions, design parameter changes and control systems affect energy requirements and environmental states.
ESP-r has a particular module involving detailed calculations of the air movement inside a room, and allowing precise computations of condensation on thermal bridge. A detailed model suited for analysing a single room behavior.
"ESP-r is an integrated modelling tool for the simulation of the thermal, visual and acoustic performance of buildings and the assessment of the energy use and gaseous emissions associated with the environmental control systems and constructional materials. In undertaking its assessments, the system is equipped to model heat, air, moisture and electrical power flows at user determined resolution. The system is designed for the Unix operating system, with supported implementations for Solaris and Linux, and is made available at no cost under an Open Source licence. ESP-r has a variety of possible applications including (source: http://www.esru.strath.ac.uk/Programs/ESP-r.htm)
