Abstract:
The efficiency of a commercial air cleaner in removing indoor pollens and fungal spores was determined. The effect of the air ventilation rate in a room on the removal efficiency was also investigated. At high ventilation rate, the cleaner helped to maintain a low concentration of pollen and spores. At moderate ventilation rate, the filtration helped to remove 80% of the particles. At low air exchange rate, pollen and fungal spore concentrations decreased rapidly, indicating sedimentation of large particles. The air cleaner was useful in filtering out pollens and spores and was more effective when doors and windows are closed.
