Abstract:
Electrical resistance gypsum sensors (two types from Soilmoisture Equipment Corp. and one type from Anti-Sel Co.) were calibrated for temperature in a specially constructed box with thermal and moisture isolation. Results indicated that the relationship between log values of electrical resistance and temperature for different moisture contents of the porous sensors was linear, To convert electrical resistance values from the field temperature to a reference temperature of 25 degrees C, an equation is proposed for the three different types of resistance sensors. Comparison tests indicated that our suggested equation gives better results, for these three types of gypsum sensors used under the current experimental conditions, than other empirical equations found in the literature.
