Wave and Vibration Engineering (WAVE) Lab
The WAVE Lab is a part of the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Aerospace Engineering (MIAE) at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. We also have affiliation with the Applied Mathematics Lab of Quebec’s Centre de Recherches Mathématiques (CRM), as well as the Concordia Institute of Aerospace Design and Innovation (CIADI).
The research activities of the WAVE Lab are in the area of vibrations and acoustics, with a focus on nonlinear vibrations and wave propagation in periodic materials. Research applications range from vibration analysis of turbomachinery to development of novel materials and devices with advanced wave-steering functionalities. We take inspiration from engineering (turbomachinery, architectural acoustics), applied physics (phononic crystals, mechanical metamaterials) and applied mathematics (dynamical systems theory, bifurcation analysis).
