    "Mold spores are found nearly everywhere, indoors and outdoors, and most people are exposed to mold in varying degrees on a daily basis. Why, then, has there been a seemingly sudden escalation of concern about moldy buildings? These concerns are varied and typically there are multiple perspectives in any given situation. The industrial hygienist is frequently called upon to investigate and address these complex concerns. There is no cookbook approach to conducting a mold evaluation, so the investigator must understand the question(s) being asked in order to outline and execute an appropriate, effective scope of work. This requires an understanding of the various sampling and analytical options available. In addition, awareness of the legal issues is essential, both from a liability and regulatory standpoint. Certainly health issues and loss control concerns often play a substantial role as well. This forum will bring together representatives of various industries that play an important role in this multi-faceted issue, including the investigator, sampling and analytical, legal, and medical experts.
