Abstract:
Although conductance -type moisture meters are frequently employed for the measurement of moisture content in timber, their acuracy is limited by various factors. Not least is the fact that there are no agreed standards for the calibration of such devices. The results from a laboratory-based comparison of a range of commonly used moisture meters are presented and the findings are criticallly discussed. To follow, the paper outlines the methodology for the proposed standardisation and calibration procedures.
