Abstract

In the near past several simulation tools for the prediction of the coupled heat and moisture transport in porous building materials have been developed. As those models are developed for the assessment of the moisture performance of constructions, investigations have to be made how accurate the results are. In the paper two main sources for uncertainties are investigated. The first influence is the natural variability of the material parameters. The second one is the uncertainty which comes from the generation of the material functions. As only a limited number of properties are measured to identify the parameters of the moisture transport functions different approximations could lead to significant changes in the calculated behaviour. The performance of an inside insulated wall is used to show the different influences.
