MIT, (2009), "The Future of Geothermal Energy: Impact of Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) on the United States in the 21st Century,", U.S. Department of Energy.
Abstract:
The potential of EGS is outlined in a recent U.S. Department of Energy report, written by an 18-member panel led by Jefferson Tester, coinventor of Potter Drilling's technology. The report details the possibility for geothermal energy to provide 100GW¡ª10% of the current power capacity in the U.S.¡ªby 2050. The report also conservatively estimates that if just 2% of the potential U.S. resource between 3 km and 10 km is recovered, geothermal power will be able to provide 2,800 times more energy than is consumed in the U.S. (2005).
