COURSE OUTLINE:
- Review of Random Processes.
- Sampling, Qunatization, Pulse Code Modulation and other
Source Coding Techniques.
- Baseband Digital Transmission in Additive White
Gaussian Noise Environment.
- Digital Transmission over Bandlimited Channels.
- Optimum Receiver Design, Probability of Error,
Multi-level Transmission.
- Digital Modulation Techniques for Passband
Transmission.
- Introduction to Information Theory and Error Control
Coding.
GRADING SCHEME:
- Assignment:
5%. - Lab.:
15%
(for Undergraduate Students). - Project:
15% (for Graduate
Students).
- Midterm:
20% (March 6, 2012). - Final:
60%.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- In order to pass the course, you should get at least
50% in the final.
- Failing to write the midterm results in losing the 20%
assigned to the midterm. In the case of a medical emergency, the student
may be given the permission to re-write the midterm.
