Switch Cisco3750

Cisco Catalyst® 3750-24 is installed in Network Lab. It is a member of the Catalyst 3750 Series Intelligent Ethernet Switches, a line of enterprise-class, stackable, multilayer switches that provide hig h availability, security and quality of service (QoS) to enhance the operation of the network. With a range of Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet configurations, the Catalyst 3750 Series can serve as both a powerful access layer switch for medium enterprise wiring closets and as a backbone switch for mid-sized networks.

For the first time, customers can deploy network-wide intelligent services, such as advanced quality of service (QoS), rate-limiting, Cisco security access control lists, multicast management, and high-performance IP routing-while maintaining the simplicity of traditional LAN switching .

The Catalyst 3750 24 EMI provides:

  • 24 10/100 ports and 2 GBIC-based Gigabit Ethernet ports
  • 1 rack unit (RU) stackable multilayer switch with full dynamic IP routing
  • Delivers intelligent services
  • Enhanced Multilayer Software Image (EMI) installed

Myrinet Switch - Myrinet M3-E16

This 16-port Myrinet-2000 switch with Myrinet-Fiber ports has monitoring capability (M3F-SW16M). It cab be widely used to interconnect clusters of workstations, PCs, servers, or single-board computers.

This switch and the corresponding NICs were ordered by Dr. Sinha. Currently they are installed in the lab only physically and they are not under use. 4 IBM computers are connected to this switch by using fiber optic cables. No configuration is done on the switch or computers for this connectivity.

Routers

There are two kinds of Cisco routers installed in Network Lab – Cisco 3925 and Cisco 3945. They belong to Cisco 3700 series Multiservice Access Routers. With on-board LAN/WAN connectivity, new high-density service modules, and support for multiple advanced integration modules, the Cisco 3900 router delivers new levels of service density for branch offices in a compact form factor.

When configured with the 16- or 36-port EtherSwitch network module, the Cisco 3900 Series offers a single, integrated platform that combines flexible routing and low-density switching. In addition, it can support internal inline power for the EtherSwitch ports, delivering a single-platform IP telephony and voice gateway solution that facilitates flexible, incremental, and scalable migration to a converged network. These single-platform solutions help lower total cost of ownership by simplifying training, deployment, and management, and modular expansion options help protect current network investment.

Key features for the Cisco 3925 and 3945:

  • Two Integrated 10/100 LAN ports
  • Two Integrated Advanced Integration Modules (AIM) slots
  • Three Integrated WAN Interface Card (WIC) slots
  • Two (Cisco 3925) or four (Cisco 3945) Network Module (NM) slots
  • One (Cisco 3925) or two (Cisco 3945) High Density Service Module (HDSM)-capable slots
  • 32MB Compact Flash (default); 128MB maximum
  • 128MB DRAM (default, single 128MB DIMM); 256MB DRAM maximum
  • Optional In-Line Power for 16-port EtherSwitch NM and 36-port EtherSwitch HDSM
  • Support for all major WAN protocols and media: LL, FR, ISDN, X.25, ATM, fractional T1/E1, T1/E1, xDSL, T3/E3, HSSI
  • Support for selected NMs, WICs and AIMs from the Cisco 1700, 2600 and 3600 Series 2 RU (Cisco 3925) or 3 RU (Cisco 3945) Rack-mountable chassis
