  5. Awarded the Order of Magubwe by the President of South Africa in October 2008 for work in energy conservation.

  6. Awarded the T. Burke Hayes Power Engineering Society, Faculty Recognition award presented by IEEE PES For inspiring Tim Roth to present the noteworthy paper "Temperature Effects on Core Loss and Permeability of Non-Oriented Soft Magnetic Materials Under High Frequency Sinusoidal Excitations", July 2005.

  7. Won an IEEE prize paper award for the paper "Parameter measurements to study surge propagation in induction machines", presented at the IEEE IAS Annual Meeting, Salt Lake City, Oct 2003.

  8. Won a Power Engineering Society Working Group Award in 2001 for developing a video on Power Engineering Education.

  9. Invited to present the 50th Bernard Price Memorial Lecture in 5 different cities in South Africa in 2001.

  10. Appointed an adjunct faculty at the University of Cape Town, SA, Jan. 1999.
