Abstract:
Summary:

A theoretical method to be used for analysis of cup method measurements is presented in this paper. In ancient wood constructions, for example, it is important to estimate the moisture absorption in order to be able to assess the risk for deterioration. An important factor for the moisture absorption rate is the surface resistance, which may be very high for painted surfaces. The initial part of the flux curve reveals the influence of the surface resistance factors on the moisture absorption and the present method makes it possible to observe and estimate numerical values of this influence.
