Abstract: |
A three-pronged strategy for ensuring environmentally sound building envelopes was presented. The first strategy - striving for the continuity of barriers - was discussed in relation to air transport of heat and moisture through the building envelope as a critical factor in environmental control. The second strategy - designing a second line of defense - had to do with the preparation of contingency measures as the placement of air barriers and insulation materials. The last strategy - ensuring that the design is buildable - had to do with assembling a specific design without compromising functional requirements. |
