Title Implementation of a new phase shifter and gain control element for microwave beamforming
Supervisor Sebak, A.
Description Recently a new implementation technique for smart antennas and phased arrays has been proposed by the electromagnetic group in Concordia. In this project students are involved in the implementation of a smart antenna receiver in cooperation with one of Dr. Sebaks PhD students. Different groups will be working in the implementation of the new technique in parallel. In particular, students in this group will be working on the design and manufacturing of a new phase shifting and gain control technique for smart antennas using microstrip technology. Also, they will learn to use PWM and time delay ICs for controlling the phase shift and gain control elements. Moreover, through contacting with other groups, students will learn about other aspects of a smart antenna receiver such as microstrip arrays, combiners and down-conversion circuits.
