Description In this project, a digital watermarking algorithm will be developed for copyright protection of speech and audio data.

Digital watermarking is a technology to embed secret information into the host data for the copyright protection. It also includes a reliable watermark detection technique. Digital watermarking of speech and audio data involves the concealment of copyright information or code within an audio file in such a way that the audio signal playback quality is not affected but an unauthorized removal of the code is difficult. Digital watermarking can be used to combat online music piracy. It can also be used to include embedding auxiliary information like lyrics, album information, or a small web page. It can be used in voice conferencing systems to indicate to others which party is currently speaking. In air traffic control, speech watermarking is used to transmit the aircraft identification or other data over the existing VHF radio communication link. In this project students will investigate, implement and evaluate a digital watermarking technique for both speech and music audio data.
