Supervisor Drs. M. O. Ahmad and W.P. Zhu, S. Fattah
Description Games and gaming systems have been an essential part of every society to enhance development and to encourage entertainment. Historically, games have helped in the advancement of science and culture in our civilization. Recently, the Nintendo Company has introduced the Wii which is a physically interactive gaming system which revolutionized the way video games are played.

The Laser Wall Hockey is an innovative advancement from the original table hockey concept. The puck is displayed using a laser beam on a playing surface, which can be any reflective surface or wall. The laser beam will be mounted on two motors that will provide the movement in the x and y directions. At initial game play, the size of the field will be determined depending on the specifications from the users. Two players will interactively attempt to bounce the puck, or laser, back to the opponent using paddles that are equipped with light sensors. Depending on the angle the puck hits the paddle, it will follow a smooth flowing trajectory back to the opponent, bouncing off walls when hit. If the puck enters the specified boundary of the player before it is blocked by the sensor paddles, then a point is awarded to the user’s opponent. A database will be kept with information about the game, including scores and wins, which will be updated as more points are awarded to each player. The first player to reach a pre-determined score will ultimately win the game.
