Title Smart Universal battery charger
Supervisor Dr.S.Williamson, D.Rozhdestvenskiy
Description Description: To design and build a universal battery charger that is compatible with all existing types of rechargeable batteries. Preliminary specifications: - battery sizes AA, AAA - number of batteries charged simultaneously 4 - each battery is charged by its own circuit yes - can charge mixed battery types yes (optional) - charging modes fast, standard, trickle - input voltage 110-240V, 50/60Hz - output voltage according_to_battery's_specifications - charging current according_to_battery's_specifications_and_charging_mode - size portable, TBD Other features: - ability to measure the actual capacity - ability to 'restore' the battery capacity - detect when the battery is fully charged and switch into trickle charging mode - safe default start-up mode - ability to choose the battery type manually - ability to indicate: - type of battery being charged - remaining time - charge a battery took (real-time and final) - charging current (for each battery) - voltage (across each battery) - ability to detect bad batteries - ability to log charging data for each battery and send it to a PC - battery health monitoring (database, uses charging data) - ability to detect the battery type and select the best charging mode (nice to have) - ability to choose the charging parameters manually (optional)
