Description: To design and build a universal battery charger that is compatible with all existing types of rechargeable batteries.
Preliminary specifications:
- battery sizes AA, AAA
- number of batteries charged simultaneously 4
- each battery is charged by its own circuit yes
- can charge mixed battery types yes (optional)
- charging modes fast, standard, trickle
- input voltage 110-240V, 50/60Hz
- output voltage according_to_battery's_specifications
- charging current according_to_battery's_specifications_and_charging_mode
- size portable, TBD
Other features:
- ability to measure the actual capacity
- ability to 'restore' the battery capacity
- detect when the battery is fully charged and switch into trickle charging mode
- safe default start-up mode
- ability to choose the battery type manually
- ability to indicate:
- type of battery being charged
- remaining time
- charge a battery took (real-time and final)
- charging current (for each battery)
- voltage (across each battery)
- ability to detect bad batteries
- ability to log charging data for each battery and send it to a PC
- battery health monitoring (database, uses charging data)
- ability to detect the battery type and select the best charging mode (nice to have)
- ability to choose the charging parameters manually (optional)
