Title |
Wireless VOIP system |
Supervisor |
Dr. Dongyu Qiu |
Description |
Wireless Voice over IP (VoIP) is a fast emerging technology and is gaining a lot of attention recently. In wireless VOIP systems, voice is transferred over wireless data networks using the standard Internet protocol (IP). The biggest advantages of wireless VOIP are high mobility and low cost. But there are also some challenging problems. In this project, two problems will be addressed. First, students need to design and implement a general wireless VOIP client, which should be able to run on different hardware platform, such as Laptop, PDA, or smartphone. Secondly, students will also address the security issue in wireless VOIP. Since voice is carried over wireless medium as IP traffic, the system could be vulnerable to attacks to general wireless networks as well as possible attacks specially designed for VOIP systems.
