Title |
Design of a Satellite On-Board Computer System |
Supervisor |
Dr. Scott Gleason |
Description |
This project will involve designing and building a satellite on-board computer system and command and control software. The satellite will be expected to receive commands from the ground station and collect telemetry and data from the on-board instruments. This
project will be based around the Space Concordia satellite currently being designed. The computer system should operate as if it was in a low Earth orbit with only periodic communications with the ground station. The on-board computer should be capable of
communicating with the satellite ground station and interfacing with the satellite communications hardware. This project is intended to expose students to a cross disciplinary application of aerospace engineering with very unique requirements. It is essentially the design of a critical subsystem on Concordia's first ever real satellite,
currently being built as part of the Canadian Satellite Design Challenge.
The Canadian Space Agency has kindly agreed to send someone to provide comments and encouragement during the final project demonstrations. |
