Group Status completed
Title Sky Sight
Supervisor TBA, Ted Obuchowicz
Description Group will create a semi autonomous UAV Quad helicopter. This project will contain aspects of hardware design, software design, FPGA video imagery. The quad copter controlled wirelessly and will be battery operated. We will develop software that interacts with the device ( ie video imagery from the helicopter to the PC operating the software. Sonar to let us know if there are obstacles, height position and also battery life etcâïï.). We will be using manufactured components so there will not be a heavy constraint to the hardware design. The quad copter will be controlled by an Arduino microprocessor. FPGA and image sensors will be used for the video feed. The sky sight project has many applications. One main focus is that it can be used for search and rescue operations in the wilderness with multiple quad copters moving in different directions a lot of ground can be covered and requiring less personnel. Another application is for missing children at amusement parks and also military application for a forward observation unit.
