Title Bar-One Electrical
Supervisor Dr. S. Hashtrudi Zad
Description This capstone project is to design and implement the electrical system for Bar-One: an automatic cocktail mixing and dispensing machine for home use. This will be done in collaboration with a team of mechanical engineering students who will be completing the machine’s mechanical systems as part of their capstone project. Once the user selects their favourite cocktail, it intakes the necessary volumes of the various liquids required, it mixes them to emulate stirring or shaking, cools them to the desired temperature and finally, dispenses them into the user’s glass. The scope of the electrical component of Bar-One includes the design of an embedded system which provides control signals for the machine’s actuators based on readings from various transducers. The team will also have to design power electronic circuits to power the entire machine and program the necessary computer logic. Finally, a user interface will be necessary in order to accept user commands and provide feedback. This project touches on the fields of electronics, embedded systems, power electronics, control systems and computer programming
