Title |
Awareable Driver |
Supervisor |
Dr. Y. Liu |
Description |
It is no surprise that many people operate a vehicle while impaired, which raises a serious issue regarding road safety. Impaired driving has caused fatal accidents and can be prevented using the Awareable Driver.
The objective of this project is to use a sensor capable of monitoring and recording an individual’s brain activity to determine if they are in a drowsy or reduced consciousness state. When the driver begins to fall asleep, the driver will be alerted by an alarming sound or vibration. The sensor will be paired with a microcontroller, which will analyze brainwaves and through the use of machine learning, determine if the driver is falling into or is in an impaired state. Connecting the device to a software application provides the ability to alarm the user, record and store brainwave activity, and improve detection capabilities.
