Title Integrated Sensor platform
Supervisor Dr. Reza Soleymani
Description The increasing penetration of innovative technologies in our daily lives has enabled us to connect everything easily via various sensors. For instance, you can use electricity meters to remotely control real-time usage in your home, you can use a thermostat to adjust the indoor temperature when you are away from home, or you can set an intruder alarm to alert you when there is a break-in. Although many different types of sensors are available for such applications, various sensors use different protocols to communicate. Therefore, in order to view the information from all different sensors, one might need different UIs, which is not ideal. The objective of this project is to build an integrated platform that communicate with different types of sensors through a single user interface. The platform should be able to buffer the received data from various sensors and transmit it to a mobile device. This platform consists of three main parts: various sensors with different technologies (such as Bluetooth, Zigbee, ANT+, etc.), a microcontroller to format and store information, and a mobile (android) application. This all should be done in a small sized package to remain portable and convenient. The project involves the following Tasks: 1.Studying sensor networks and its protocols. 2.Building the hardware (PCB design) and testing the transmitted information to the user. 3.Developing an Android APP to display sensor data to the user in a meaningful way. 4.Writing the report. 5.Demonstration of the result.
