Title Navigating with Braille
Supervisor W. Hamou-Lhadj
Description "Navigating with Braille" is a project that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and geo-location technologies to help visually-impaired individuals be aware of their environment. The project is based on interactive mapping for nearby landmark information to create a dynamic bridge between the physical and digital worlds for blind individuals. The AI technology empowers a device to retrieve essential details about nearby landmarks, businesses, and points of interest. As the user walks or explores their environment, the device continuously interacts with virtual maps, extracts information about the environment, and translates this information to the Braille language using natural language processing techniques. When a point of interest is detected on the user route, the device will print/show the name of the landmark in braille language. It aims to provide real-time, intuitive and reliable navigation assistance to guide visually impaired users with their surroundings and enhance their independence and mobility.
