Capstone Project
Group | 2024-09 | Status | inprogress |
Title | Performance Tracking Hockey Puck
Supervisor | G. Cowan and K. Skonieczny
Description | In collaboration with McGill Ice Hockey Research Group, this group will build on past work to measure the top speed of a hockey puck, helping researchers answer key biomechanical questions about player/stick/puck interaction. More info on past work can be found here:
https://spectrum.library.concordia.ca/id/eprint/992980/ This project will build on a prototype developed by a previous MASc student. In particular this next version must be more robust mechanically and must have different components with wider measurement range. Finally enhanced data fusion techniques for processing the data from gyro/accelerometers are needed. |
||
Student Requirement | Ideal group has a mix of hardware/software. Familiarity with microcontrollers is a must: COEN 316/317. Understanding of Kalman filtering (e.g. ELEC 473, ELEC 442, or AERO 483) is a plus
Tools | MCU development environment. Maybe app development for a smartphone. Matlab/python for data fusion. PCB design software.
Number of Students | 5-6 | ||
Students | Alexis Bernier, Anthony Fratipietro, Lauren Lastoria, George Maximos, Charles Young.
