Abstract:
Moisture intrusion is inevitable in most buildings due to the numerous sources, pathways, and driving forces present. Inattention to moisture issues in buildings can lead to catastrophic mold growth and result in substantial building damage. Moisture in buildings can also results in sick building syndrome (SBS) and building related illness (BRI) and negatively affect productivity and building revenue. Understanding the differing modes of moisture intrusion, and developing operating and maintenance procedures to deal with them can render moisture intrusion a manageable issue.
