Outline:

· Convolutional Codes; Viterbi Algorithm; Turbo codes, Trellis Coded Modulation.

· Synchronization: Carrier recovery, symbol timing recovery.

· Communication over Fading channels: characterization of fading channels, diversity

techniques, equalization.

· Spread-Spectrum Techniques

· Multiplexing Techniques: FDM/FDMA, TDM/TDMA, CDMA

 

Exams:

Midterm and Final exams are open book

Midterm #1 10% Saturday, March 8, 2003, 9-11 AM, H435

Midterm #2 10% Wednesday, April 2 nd , 2003, 20:30-22-30, H401

Project 15% Due April 7 th at 11:00

Assignments 5%

Final 60% April 23rd from 19:00-22:00: to be confirmed

 

Passing Grade:

In order to pass the course, you should get at least 60% in total and at least 60% in the final exam.
