Title FM Wireless Transmitter
Supervisor Dr. Glenn Cowan
Description In this project, a transmitter will be designed that can transmit radio signals in the commercial FM radio band, 88-108 MHz or in the band near 49 MHz. The transmitter will be designed using integrated circuit technology using Sound Design Technologies 2.5 GHz Bipolar technology, with a minimum of external components. This project affords students the opportunity to gain experience in radio design as well as RF integrated circuit design. In the event that multiple qualified groups are interested in this project, one group could build a receiver allowing a complete wireless link to be implemented
Requirement ELEC 311, 351 or 353, 363, 361 or 364, and ELEC 312: Electronics II The ideal group has at least one student presently taking ELEC 423: Introduction to Analog VLSI
Tools [Software, hardware, test equipment, etc] PCB design software and prototyping. Cadence tool suite for IC design. Scopes and spectrum analyzers for testing.
