Title Music Interpreting Robot
Supervisor Dr. William E. Lynch
Description The objective of this project is to create a robot that interprets music and moves to it. The robot should be able to recognize the type of music based on rhythm and signal patterns. As the robot listens to the music, it will move according to the type of music being played; if a song that is slow and lyrical is being played, then the robots movement will be slow and smooth as well. Therefore, its movement should differ between two different kinds such as rock and jazz. The robot will consist of a DSP with a microcontroller, a wireless transmission device (ie Bluetooth) and possibly a microphone, a power source, and between four to six legs. The DSP will receive the input or music via the wireless transmission device. If Bluetooth is used, the music can be from any transmittable device such as an iPod or cellphone. The DSP will translate the music into instructions to the microcontroller that controls the legs. Requirements: Knowledge in telecommunications, microcontrollers and audio signal processing
