Title E-Bracelet for Health Monitoring
Supervisor R. Coutinho
Description Our team is set on creating a wearable device (e.g., bracelet) that can monitor the health status of a patient in a hospital or care home and relay the information to an application on the assigned nurse’s phone. Not only that, the device would also be able to gather data about the patient’s sleep and exercise patterns. The nurse will receive alerts about the patient (for example if he falls over), and even be able to verify in real time the patient’s vitals and health status. The nurse would also be able to verify patient information, allergies, and past issues (medical record). The patient himself will not use the phone application, only the nurse will have access to it. Deliverables: Wearable device like a bracelet (hardware), phone application (software)
Requirement Programming languages: C++, Java, app development Hardware knowledge: Arduino, RasberryPi, microcontrollers, sensors, circuits
Tools We will need a microcontroller (Arduino, RasberryPi, STM32, etc) and different sensors that can monitor different health statuses, from heart rate, blood O2 levels, temperature, etc). It would also be capable of monitoring if a patient falls over and send an alert to the nurse. For testing the hardware, maybe an oscilloscope and multimeter. For the software part, computers would be needed to program and phones, both IOS and Android, to conduct testing and verification.
