Remote Desktop to Real-time Workstations

To provide a real-time development environment for coen421 students, now the following real-time workstations could accept Remote Desktop Connection by using real-time account :

    1. cey.realtime.private
    2. wry.realtime.private
    3. key.realtime.private.

On above real-time workstations, all software packages installed are same as the machines in the lab. But there are no SBCs and joystick connected. The user can learn real-time environment and write the code on these remote-access workstations.

In Campus

You can use your own laptop (via wireless) or the machine in ENCS common computer labs to connect a remote real-time workstation directly.

At home

Before you use Remote Desktop Connection, you may have to setup a tunnel to ENCS login server, check AITS helpdesk website for more information.

Remote Access Real-time Servers

As deafault, a real-time user could not access ECE real-time server outside the lab. The reasons are :

  1. Learning how to use real-time IDE is a part of real-time lab teaching, and remote desktop feature is NOT allowed for security reason.
  2. Working on a remote real-time server will involve another real-time account and working space, and so on. So far no way to centralize the working directory for local and remote access.

But if you really need to use a remote access real-time server for your project, you can ask your instructor and TA for an approvement first, then contact the real-time system administrator.
