Research

Development and modelling of an integrated electrified reverse-water-gas shift reactor to improve the performance of CCU processes

The primary objective of this project is to develop optimum solutions for the conversion of CO2 into value-added products. I am engaged in the design and CFD modelling of advanced CO2 conversion reactors for the deep decarbonization of chemical processes. In this context, CFD modelling is being used to evaluate a novel reverse water gas shift (RWGS) reactor for optimal conditions and increased CO2 conversion. Thus, an electrified module contributes to the enhancement of CO2 conversion. In addition, the Aspen Plus process simulation, techno-economic analysis, lifecycle assessment, and optimization of innovative carbon utilization technologies are being performed to determine the optimal CCU approach with the lowest CO2 utilization cost. Therefore, we start by creating CO2 conversion methods for a range of products, such as methanol (MeOH), ethanol, and dimethyl ether (DME).
